Don’t reach for that drying shampoo at the grocery store just yet. You have options. First, make sure that the flakes are actual dandruff. It is quite possible that the flakes are excess build up on the scalp from products or dry scalp. If it’s either then a medicated shampoo is unnecessary and better to avoid.
Try a vinegar rinse. Mix 1/4 cup of vinegar with 1/4 cup of water. This will cleanse excess build up, exfoliate dry scalp and even help offer shine and volume. If you still have flakes after, then it is dandruff.
Try a lighter medicated shampoo like Davines Anti-Dandruff shampoo. We love it. Does the trick without over-drying out the hair like other over-the-counter brands.
Other important tip…use anti-dandruff shampoo on your scalp only and a separate shampoo on your strands. This will save your hair and color in the long run. Good luck!
